Tragedy in Brazil - Santa Maria

A few days before I get back to Los Angeles again, this terrible tragedy happens here in Brazil...and worse: one of my friends died in the tragedy...

The tragedy occurred in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul: at 2 o'clock in the morning, there was the spectacle of a band at the nightclub called "Kiss"; 2,000 teenagers were there having fun, raising money for graduations. Then, the lead singer of the band decided to light a fire flag, pointing to the roof: the roof caught fire immediately.

The irresponsibility of the singer is immense, but the irresponsibility of the owners of the nightclub is even greater; The "Kiss" nightclub had capacity for only 500 people, and there was only one door for entry and exit;  the ceiling was low, and made of foam and wood. Reading these things about the club, now we can see how this party was irresponsible: the band should never have thought of doing a fireworks show, and the club couldn't function with only one door, and with a greater capacity for 500 people.

 

And worst of all: the club functioned without permit.

The fire grew quickly: everyone began to run out. Many were trampled and others barred by the security: the security guards had not seen the fire, and felt that people were running because they wouldn't pay the tickets of the club .... But only after 1 minute, the guards opened the doors because they realized the fire - another error.

Some teens ran to the bathroom and tried to escape through the windows: but they failed, and died there, infected with the smoke.

There were 231 dead ; infected, trampled and burned. 80 are in hospitals in serious cases. The pain is huge, and Brazil is in mourning. 

I lost a internet friend in this accident: he died infected. I am very scared and depressed ... It's a terrible pain. Therefore, I ask that you guys,  pray for the victims of this terrible accident, and for the families... I appreciate the mobilization around the world ... We Brazilians are happy with it.
